![]() Where else would you suggest they go to express their dissatisfaction and force Valve into action? 3rd parties will still be releasing games on Steam regardless. It's not like customers can buy a 64-Bit version Portal 2 on a different store anyway, and any Mac users into gaming are already likely (I would assume) to have accounts with Epic and GOG in addition to Steam. Originally posted by Beetroot Bertie:I can't see Mac customers abandoning Steam as a marketplace when new Mac titles are likely to be 64-Bit from now on. If they announce something then maybe you'll get an answer to your question. They have deep enough pockets, but this is Valve so who knows?. I hope so, just so we can keep on saying how Portal 2 is one of best co-op games on Mac :). Maybe that 10% market share is worth it to them (maybe not). I don't know what their Mac sales figures (or Team Fortress 2 hat sales) are like. I too hope that Valve in their great and unmatched wisdom will update their titles and source engines eventually, especially considering how well regarded their 1st party titles are but I don't expect or feel entitled for them to do so (I just have to make a point of enjoying them while I can much like I would do with older console generations before backwards compatibility became a thing). Unfortunately that library has shrunk all of a sudden for Catalina+ users now that 32-Bit executables are no longer functional and this is a sad prospect, especially from a game preservation point of view on a platform which is already marginalised and maligned by the gaming community (sweeping generalisation I know). The reasons I think Mac users would still use Steam are simply its convenience and library (and perhaps the attractiveness of the sales). ![]() ![]() I can't see Mac customers abandoning Steam as a marketplace when new Mac titles are likely to be 64-Bit from now on. Seeing Síle de Tansarville, Philippa Eirhart, and Yarpen Zigrin was pretty awesome. I highly urge those who haven't played the games to read those to maximize their enjoyment. I somehow miss stuff like in Fallout where you can make everyone you like make peace with each other, but in the Witcher titles it's always one way or the other.Īnd the story by the way, the games really do feel like a natural extension of the books. I actually just realized near the end of the game that this title locks you out of a good chunk of gameplay for each side, unlike the first title where it only seems the change would be whose character would help you on the same quests, and that's pretty awesome. I fought one enemy by the end for 15 minutes and and when that blue X appeared I pressed A, and there went all my work. Wait a sec, you can turn of the QTEs? I actually enjoyed the fistfight ones because they're really easy, but the boss ones are pretty frustrating if you're someone like me who is unfamiliar with an Xbox controller's layout. I thought so that Roche's path would be the canonical one and with my previous knowledge of the squirrels it was an easy choice to make on which I could side with. To those who've played the game, what side do you think is best? Iorveth's or Roche? And whose side skewed more on either side of the morality spectrum? The first two titles are pretty much closed games, in which if you choose a path it locks you out from another path, so to have a world where everything is accessible from the onset, in the world of the Witcher(and I've read all the books), I'm really expecting something that'll blow me away. ![]() Having finished this game, and the game before this one, people calling the third title one of the best titles they've ever played, the best open world they've ever had the pleasure of exploring, really is making me crazy hyped for that one. I saved at that point where you had to choose between Roche and Iorveth but I accidentally saved over it so I have to start everything all over again to see Iorveth's path. There were a few rough spots, mainly the instant kill QTEs and the sneaking sections, but otherwise, it's a stellar game. I've only done one path so far, Roche's, and it was pretty satisfying. So I finally got to play this in anticipation of the big one and wow, it delivered. ![]() ![]() Hunt solo or as part of a pack - Explore the vast city of Zagoravia and its sprawling districts in 2 player couch co-op or take the battle online with up to 4 players including drop in/drop out gameplay.Craft and construct powerful new items with transmutation and adjust the difficulty, with Casual, Normal and Hard modes, for hardened hunters seeking even greater rewards Make your hunter stronger - Level up your demon hunter to gain increased levels of Renown.Choose your equipment wisely to create your ultimate Demon Hunter From Scythes and Shotguns to powerful Talismans and Destiny Cards. I saw those 4 colored circles, noticed it matched perfectly on my third party controller, and wondered just how “official” this turbo controller actually was. The Japanese symbol for the Super Famicom appears to be based on that face button layout and coloring.Īs a result, I was confused for a different reason when I got to the “special zone”. What was special about it was it kept the Japanese coloring for the face buttons, instead of the lame “purple and different shade of purple” that the US version was sporting. I used that one pretty much exclusively for a long time. When I got my SNES for Christmas, it was along with a special “turbo” controller from Ascii. Here’s some conjecture: perhaps they used those “tubular” names because it was 1991, a time when Sonic was the most “radical” threat to Nintendo, and teams of 3 ninjas did kick back and/or surf.Īs for that special symbol, I have a unique perspective on this. Interesting… There’s some hilarity to some of those Japanese names too. It also means that people playing the English version can get a few more coins than Japanese players. It looks like Nintendo’s localizers took the time to fix even this secret little thing by giving it proper grammar. Here’s a look at the original Japanese version: So there we go – The Japanese names are pretty basic and simple and get the job done… but the English version is totally wicked to the max.Ī reader on Twitter named “ahdummy” asked a great follow-up question too: what does the “YOU ARE A SUPER PLAYER!!” line at the end of the final special course say in Japanese? ![]() If you have any ideas, share them in the comments. I think “So Bad” would’ve been a cool nod to the era and to The Wizard… but I wonder what other terms could’ve been used too. I wonder what other similar slang words from the era could be used too. ![]() I don’t usually think of words like “gnarly” and “radical” when playing Mario games □ I wonder why the localizers decided to use these slang terms in the first place. But I’m almost certain the American Super NES logo was something gray and black and a little different from this. I think the European logo might be the same as the Japanese logo, so maybe it wasn’t so out of place there. ![]() ![]() It’s interesting that the Super Famicom logo was used in the English version of the game, or at least the American version of the game.I also had a couple random thoughts when looking through these: They don’t even have numbers, like “Fun Course 1” or “Fun Course 2”. What’s more, each special course name gets used twice in the Japanese version, which is a bit confusing. So it looks like the Japanese names weren’t anything too radical or funky – they’re mostly ordinary-sounding names. So let’s take a look at them all side-by-side: I was wondering what the level names are in the Japanese version. I was watching a speed run of Super Mario World, and I noticed in the “Special World” (the world accessed by completing the Star Road), all of the names of the levels are typical 90’s American Surfer lingo (“tubular, mondo, outrageous”). JP asked this question quite a while back about Super Mario World, one of my all-time favorite games. Oddly enough, he was allowed to continue to be the State Treasurer until his actual sentencing (some weird bit of state law). He accepted roughly $300,000 in kickbacks for allowing a multi-million dollar state accounting job to go to a specific accounting firm (the conspiracy was wider than just Dwyer – the Chairman of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania also went down for the charge).ĭwyer fought the charges heavily, but he was convicted. The song was, in fact, written in honor (if you want to use that term) of Dwyer.ĭwyer, you see, was the State Treasurer of Pennsylvania, and he was also more than a little bit…how do you say…corrupt? ![]() Why you would automatically think of Budd Dwyer is beyond me, but even odder is that they were RIGHT! However, other fans also thought that the song was about the 1987 suicide of Pennsylvania State Treasurer Budd Dwyer. However, fans soon felt that the band was not just referencing a typical suicide with their song, but specifically the suicide of the prior year of Nirvana front man, Kurt Cobain (seen below)…Ĭobain killed himself in the middle of 1994, so when a song pops up the very next year (just a little over a year later) talking about suicide, then people are gonna figure that you’re talking about Kurt Cobain. They think that your early ending was all wrong The song, which appeared on their 1995 album Short Bus… When it came to Filter’s 1995 hit “Hey Man, Nice Shot,” though, folks did not really need much reading into the lyrics to know that the song was about a suicide. ![]() MUSIC URBAN LEGEND: Filter’s “Hey Man, Nice Shot” was about the real life suicide of Kurt Cobain.īesides finding satanic references in various band names and songs, people like looking for pretty much any sort of odd references in the lyrics of songs. ![]() Click here to view an archive of the movie urban legends featured so far.
